Other program related duties may be assigned. Standards of Care Ensures that all essential student needs are met on the unit each shift, according to guidelines. Instructs students regarding desirable behavioral, health, hygiene, and personal habits as they apply to Stetson School policy and procedure.
Demonstrates, through actions, support for the program’s ACORN approach to treatment, and the attendant focus on awareness of the impact of trauma, developing social competencies, healthy attachment, self-regulation, and the student rehabilitation process.
Facilitates scheduled student visits, and treats family and visitors with dignity and respect. Ensures telephone and mail contact between family or other identified supportive adults in accordance with the individual service plan and program rules and standards.
Demonstrates care giver qualities that treat all students with dignity and respect. Prevents interactions that are not sanctioned within the rules, practices, and policies of Stetson School.
Prevents actions and disparaging comments that may be considered horseplay, roughhousing, and/or derogatory comments and demeaning gestures.
Maintains appropriate staff to student interactions including professional boundaries Acts as a role model and reinforces pro-social behaviors. Managing Routines and Daily Structure Maintains constant visual and auditory supervision of students. Follows all rules noted in A Guide to Supervision of Students at Stetson School.
Transitions students to designated program activities in accordance with program procedures.
Randomly conducts room checks of students at intervals no longer than 10 minutes, performing such tasks as checking to visually verify that each student is in the appropriate bedroom. Implements established daily shift structure and routine. Transports students to appointments or other functions as authorized and assigned. Carries out all student special programs according to relevant procedures. Ensures that the daily structure and routines are carried out as scheduled.
Behavior Management Responds to students’ behavior in accordance with Stetson School’s Behavior Management policy and the principles of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Performs the activities of TCI physical intervention as noted on page five (5) titled, Addendum to Essential Functions Regarding Specific Activities of TCI Restraint Process. Ensures the least restrictive measures of therapeutic physical interventions. Processes issues and/or incidents with students as outlined within TCI practice and in accordance with individual treatment plans.
Teaching recreational and social competencies Leads and/or monitors recreational activities, and may participate or instruct students by serving as a role model, including following the agency’s “half-speed policy.” Participates in off-campus student-related activities when trained and approved. Leads and co-leads relevant skill-based groups, and participates in clinical groups when approved. Assigned as an advocate for a specified student in accordance with Stetson School’s protocol.
Documentation and reporting
Ensure all assigned documentation relevant to TCI is completed accurately and thoroughly by the close of each shift. Completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Completes shift paperwork and delegates to ensure that all necessary documentation is completed. Completes Residential Quarterly Reports, monthly milieu indicators, and other advocate paperwork, as assigned. Completes staff movement logs, room assignment forms, silverware inventory, behavioral tracking, and other program-related paperwork as assigned. Health and Safety Maintain safe, clean and organized physical plant consistently on assigned unit(s). Conducts room and unit searches as assigned. Facilitates and assists students in housekeeping duties, sanitation, and removal of health hazards related to student bodily fluids/materials, utilizing protective equipment in accordance with the Universal Precautions standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attends to reported student illness and injuries in accordance with established procedures. Work expectations Maintain acceptable attendance and arrive on time in order to provide scheduled shift coverage, in-charge responsibilities, and safety for students in treatment.
Engages in professional interactions with other employees, and promotes cooperative team work. Performs mandated work schedules in accordance with the established protocol to work additional mandated hours beyond his/her shift to maintain the appropriate regulatory staff-to-student ratio.
Participates appropriately in all required training and meetings, and maintains CPR, TCI, and First Aid certifications.
Remains awake and alert while on duty. Must maintain MAP certification Other Related duties: Responsible for the proper handling of recreation funds, student personal money, student birthday and Holiday funds, and the submission of receipts and change as assigned, in accordance with program policies and procedures. Completes shift tasks and routines, as assigned.
Notify team-in charge of all critical incidents or other concerning events as per protocols. Job Type:
